As the dust settles or should we say, the competition ends at Washougal Motocross park as the track was one of the most epic days at Washougal. Overcast skies all weekend, 70 degrees light rain at times and the one of the best track conditions we have seen in 25 plus years of racing Washougal. The Viral Brand riders took full advantage of the track to take 4 Overalls a few seconds and a lot of top 5’s. Riders came from all over the Western United States to compete in the 46th running of the OR OldTimers National.
The format for the National is two days of racing, no mini or kids classes 5 motos with 3 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday and for the Masters classes it 20 min plus two laps. So you get a ton of riding in and once Saturday night rolls around they have a catered dinner and this year a live band. So needless to say it was a very good time!
Chuck Sun former Factory Honda rider and 1980 500cc AMA Champion was on hand to race in the 60 masters class, The founder of Viral Brand and Director of Sales Scot Steffy was racing the 50 Masters class, Shaun Kalos factory Yamaha rider and top 5 overall 250 Nationals and 8th overall 250SX 1989 was competing in the 40 Masters class against a very fast Ryan Huffman who has spun a few laps around Washougal from time to time. Mike Smith was competing in the 30A Class and a ton of 30 and over riders taking full advantage of an epic weekend.
If you have not had the chance to race a Oldtimer national do yourself a favor and put it on your calendar it is we;; worth every penny you spend.
